Scouts Support Sma’ Shot Day at Paisley Abbey

Date: 7th Jul 2025 Author: Richard Murray

We are incredibly proud of our Scout team who represented the group with energy and enthusiasm at Paisley Abbey during this year’s Sma’ Shot Day celebrations on Saturday 5th July 2025.

Throughout the day, the Scouts led an impressive 14 guided tours of the Abbey’s historic tower. Each tour involved climbing 197 narrow spiral steps to the top of the 50-metre-high tower — no small feat! In total, the team climbed a combined height of 2,800 vertical metres, which is the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis twice, the tallest mountain in the UK. 🏔️

The event was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to engage with the local community, develop their confidence, and contribute meaningfully to a treasured Paisley tradition.

We received lovely feedback from Marion at Paisley Abbey, who shared:

“Without your involvement we would have been unable to welcome such large numbers… The Scouts’ youth and fitness made it all possible!”

We extend our thanks to Paisley Abbey for involving our Scouts in this community event, and to everyone who attended and supported the tours.

📅 We are already looking forward to returning for Doors Open Day on Saturday 6th September 2025, where our Scouts will once again have the chance to get involved.

Well done to our amazing team – you made us all very proud!
